There is a school in NW Portland that people gather to watch the swifts go into the chimney in the fall.

I'm not sure I've seen these chimney swifts but love the few nighthawks that are here when I sit out in the evening. I've love to "see" your lovely poem up in the air, JoAnn!

Love your poem and your video clip. We've seen swifts "vacuumed" from the sky by a chimney. It's magical.

They are wonderful, aren't they? I'm sad to report that I haven't seen as many this summer as in years past, so I was cheered to see them gathering in good numbers. I hope to get out to watch again before they take off for South America.
